Groh specializes in strategic planning, organizational capacity building and resource development. His past clients include the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs, Whitney Foundation, Center for Fair Elections and Democracy (Serbia), Creating Effective Grassroots Alternatives Foundation (Bulgaria), National Center for Appropriate Technology, Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Network, Minnesota Environmental Partnership, A.H. Wilder Foundation and the McKnight Foundation.
