ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a Christian organization based in Minneapolis. After several years of rapid growth, FMSC now has three locations in the Twin Cities and one site in Chicago. Founded in 1987, FMSC works with worldwide humanitarian organizations to distribute food to starving children. In 2006, 137,000 volunteers assembled more than 30 million meals of rice, high protein soy nuggets, vegetables, vitamins, minerals and flavoring. Feed My Starving Children’s powerful program involves America’s youth working together to heal the hurt of hunger around the world.
JOB TITLE: Operations Systems Manager
LOCATION: Twin Cities Metro
SALARY: DOQ TYPE: Full Time DEADLINE: 2/18/2008
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement quality policies, processes, and procedures that ensure the highest level of food quality and safety. Audit sites and vendor locations to ensure compliance. Identify deficiencies, assign corrective actions, and resolve all non-compliances.
2. Establish a data system that facilitates efficient operations across all production, materials planning, and planning functions. Collaborate with accounting and information technology personnel to identify data infrastructure requirements.
3. Write technical process and procedures that ensure uniform packing, facility operation, and offsite packing, warehousing, and shipping operations.
4. Evaluate current processes and identify improvements. Make recommendations and lead process improvement efforts.
5. Actively participate in all training activities in cooperation with human resources and facility management personnel.
6. Coordinate all product testing with outside laboratories and experts.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: A Bachelors degree in manufacturing engineering, management or equivalent is required.
Experience: 3-5 years of manufacturing process engineering or quality assurance. Experience in the food industry is a plus.
Professional Characteristics: Candidates should have a strong desire to use their talents to serve God’s people in need. Experience should demonstrate the ability to develop and implement process and quality assurance procedures. A high degree of organization, decision making, and collaboration skills are required. The ability to present a professional demeanor at all times is also required.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This newly created position will manage quality, data, and all operational processes required to produce quality food products. Performs audits of facilities, offsite packing events, and vendor locations to ensure conformance to established processes and specifications. Commitment to support the Christian mission and goals of Feed My Starving Children. Works out of the Eagan, Minnesota location
