Join a MINN Committee!!!

A note from MINN President Shannon Broderick.

I want to pass along information on our current committees, including their next upcoming meeting or event. Our committees typically meet 4 times a year, with communication happening as needed between meetings. Each committee has a chair and the contact information for each committee chair is included below. I encourage you to be in touch with them if you have questions. Also, please consider this your invitation to their next committee meeting and join them to begin your involvement.

IT Committee
MINN’s IT Committee is responsible for the MINN Website and List Serv. In addition to those that have or wish to gain exposure to the more technical elements of hosting an online community, we are interested in finding volunteers with communications, journalism/writing, photography as well as web searching (e.g., international job listings and events) experience. It’s a fun group and many of our conversations are online. We meet at least four times a year.

Next meeting is August 18th at 6pm at the Chatterbox Pub on Cleveland Ave in St Paul, MN.

IT committee Chair: Karen Baumgaertner

Education Committee
This is the committee that schedules, plans and hosts our Education events and presentations. If you’d like to join the efforts to think about relevant topics and speakers, as well as help with the logistics of contacting presenters, scheduling space and collaborating with our IT committee to market events, please join the crucial efforts of this team. I am sure the Education committee members could use your help with staffing the sign in table, setting up, clean up, etc at their next upcoming event if you are available. Please contact the chairs of this committee to begin your involvement. The upcoming event details are below:

If Microfinance is the Answer, What is the Question?
Monday, September 8th, 3-5pm
Dorsey-Ewald Conference Center
1000 Westgate Drive, Ste. 252, St. Paul

Education Committee Chairs:
Therese Gales, thereseg at archq.org
Laura Ehrlich, lehrlich at mihv.org

Outreach Committee
The Outreach Committee was formed to help spread the word about MINN, foster relationships with professionals in key organizations, develop ideas of how/where to market MINN and follow up on those ideas. With a strong list of contacts, we are currently aware of the importance of strengthening our ties with those who are already active and want to do more to strengthen the involvement of those already familiar with MINN. If this intrests you, join us for our next Outreach meeting:

Monday, 8/25, 6pm at Artist’s Grind, 2399 University Ave., St. Paul (corner of Raymond and University Avenues)

Outreach Committee Chair: Shannon Broderick
Contact Shannon with questions: smbroderick at hotmail.com

Social Committee
The Social Committee is the group committed to the role of official hosts of our Happy Hour/networking events. The committee spent time this year securing a standard time and event space and are looking forward to the ways they might partner with existing committees to strengthen outreach at their social events and perhaps help facilitate a bit more structured networking time at our Educational events. In addition to setting up, hosting, signing people in and making announcements at our social events, volunteers on this committee will use their ideas and natural “people person” skills to help foster new ways of helping people reach out to each other at all MINN events and partner with other committees to make this happen.

Social Committee Chair: Ginger Wange
Contact Ginger with questions: baginger8 at hotmail.com

Thank you again for your interest in volunteering with our committees to further the mission of MINN. I’ll look forward to seeing you all soon.

Shannon Broderick, MINN Volunteer, Steering Committee President
