1. Message from the President
On behalf of all of us at MINN I want to extend our deepest gratitude to outgoing MINN Steering Committee members. Their efforts have set the foundation for us as an organization and we will continue to build on their successes as we develop and grow in the months and years to come. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the current Steering Committee members for their dedication to advancing our mission and making MINN a dynamic and worth-while group to be a part of. The 2007 Steering Committee includes:
-
Karen Baumgartner, KB Consulting, Past President
Shannon Broderick, Common Hope, Vice President
Therese Gales, American Refugee Committee International
Paul Hanscom, Ewald Consulting, President
Jamie Hopkins, Connect/US – Russia
Michael Thompson, NWA
Ginger Wange, Books for Africa
Bistra Zheleva, Children’s HeartLink
In addition to the Steering Committee we have several committed and talented volunteers on our Education, Social, Outreach, and Technology Committees. Each of these groups has been hard at work to strengthen the role of MINN as a resource for international NGO professionals like you. As you consider professional development opportunities in 2007 I encourage you to participate in one of our fun and enriching MINN initiatives. If you ever have questions about MINN or how you can get involved please feel welcome to contact me at paulh@ewald.com.
2. Education: Power Presentations Are Back!
Back by popular demand, MINN’s Power Presentations Workshop will be held again this April. Each of our Midwest INGO presenters will highlight a specific project their organization is working on, the challenges they incurred, and how they are addressing them. The workshop will conclude with networking time and an opportunity to ask questions. There will be limited capacity for this event. Watch for more details soon at www.midwestngo.org.
3. MINN kicks off 2007 with happy hour at Memory Lanes
There were new faces and fabulous door prizes again last week at the MINN bi-monthly Happy Hour. A special thanks to Angela St. Cyr, American Refugee Committee International, for leading coordination efforts.
4. Save the Date: MINN Social Event at Figlio’s
You won’t want to miss it – MINN is hosting the next Social Event/Happy Hour at Figlio’s in Calhoun Square (corner of Lake St. & Hennepin Ave.) at 5:30pm on Thursday, March 22nd. As always, food/drink specials and door prizes will be available. Bring a colleague and join the fun!
